Started my professional life as a waiter at the age of 15. Moved to London at the age of 19
where I managed some very very busy bars (you know how the English can drink).
Moved back to South Africa at 23 and opened my own restaurant at the age of 24, and a
further 5 in the next 8 years. All in all I have been involved in the opening of over 30 restaurants,
ranging from silver service set ups to take away stores in high traffic areas in and around taxi
ranks.
John Sanei by numbers:
During my professional career owning Italian restaurants in 8 years I roughly sold:
500 000 pizzas
250 000 cappuccinos
Utilising:
And having turned in excess of R100 million
So in brief, I have done a few cash ups in my days, trained a few Ambassadors, made a cappuccino or two, been
to the CCMA so often they used to keep my own chair, the thing that worried him is that they kept trying to plug
it in :-)
