40 YEARS IN RETAIL! Can you believe it? (well if you've looked at my picture you probably can!)
I've been fortunate to work with and be mentored by some of the great retailers of the 20th
Century, Lord Sieff of Brimpton, Lord Raynor etc during my twenty years of retail with Marks and
Spencer UK.
I started unloading lorries as a saturday boy and joined their management scheme at 17, doing
most of the horrible jobs nobody else wanted! Ever seen a store in Gravesend? Trust me it looks
like it sounds, eventually managed their flagship store Marble Arch [busiest store in the world – Guinness book of
records] That was my boyhood ambition and having achieved it joined Woolworths South Africa as national sales
executive textiles, home, food visual merchandising and customer liaison which kept me busy!. Followed that with
a stint as buying group head of menswear and then got disillusioned with corporate life and started what is now
Retail inc in 2001.
